The St. Martin Parish Council met tonight for a regular meeting at the St. Martin Parish Annex Building in St. Martinville to discuss the budget for the next fiscal year.

According to Chairwoman Lisa Nelson, Parish President Chester Cedars presented his budget to the council. Members will now look over the budget and the final vote will take place in December. The council will also hold a public hearing on the budget before the final vote at the December 3rd meeting.

Nelson also said the council has approved a resolution allowing Parish President Chester Cedars to sign a contract for the removal and replacement of the Butte La Rose Pontoon Bridge.

The project has been awarded to Huval and Associates.

A Finance Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15. This will be a regular meeting, where members will only discuss the budget.

The next regular council meeting will be on November 5.
