Breaux Bridge man arrested for Illegal Possession of several pieces of heavy equipment

A Breaux Bridge man was arrested Thursday afternoon for illegal possession of pieces of heavy equipment.

Joseph Marshall Landry, also known as "Candyman," 61, was arrested after investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant. The warrant was for a residence in the 1000 block of Dalfrey Road in Breaux Bridge and a second property located off of Camp Bon Temps Road in Breaux Bridge.

Police served the warrant in reference to an investigation regarding illegal possession of stolen things.

During the search of the Camp Bon Temps residence, investigators located a Gravely forty-two inch zero turn lawn mower that is valued at approximately $2,000.00 that was previously reported stolen from a St. Landry Parish residence.

At the second location on Camp Bon Temps Road, a utility trailer valued at $1,500.00 was recovered that was previously reported stolen out of Acadia Parish.

Investigators also recovered a Caterpillar Excavator, Caterpillar Bulldozer, and a Caterpillar Mini Bulldozer reported stolen from Texas with a combined value of approximately $309,000.00

Landry was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on three counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, over $25,000.00 and two counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, over $1,000.00.

The investigation is ongoing.

Landry's bond has been set at $8,000.00.
