UPDATE: The Secretary of State confirms that Craig Robin has withdrawn from the St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court race. Because he did so early enough, the election for that post has been cancelled, and Charles Jagneaux is elected unopposed, officials say.

Here's the original story:

The only candidate challenging St. Landry Parish Clerk of Court Charles Jagneaux has withdrawn his candidacy.

KATC received a letter from Craig Robin, an Opelousas Chiropractor, stating he has officially withdrawn his candidacy for Clerk of Court.

"My family and my chiropractic practices are my primary concern," he wrote. "My family time and my patients' health care needs would naturally have suffered if I would have continued to pursue the campaign."

Robin said he has always appreciated the political process "and I have also come to appreciate the effort required in pursuing political office."

Robin thanked his supporters and encouraged them to "enter the fray" themselves. He also thanked Jagneaux and wished him the best in the future.
