UPDATE: One suspect is in custody following a shooting on Planters St. earlier this evening.
Chief Martin McLendon said the suspect walked into a home, exchanged words with someone inside, walked outside, and then entered the house again and fired his weapon.
The victim is expected to survive, but Chief McLendon said he suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The shooter's identity is not being released at this time.
Chief McLendon said there seems to be no connection to other recent shootings in the area.

Opelousas Police are currently investigating a shooting on Planters St.
According to Police Chief Martin McClendon, one victim is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
There is no suspect information at this time.
