One man is under arrest and another is wanted in St. Landry Parish.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says deputies have booked Thaddeus Shakesneider, 21, of Leonville with Simple Battery, simple assault and possession of drugs. Deputies are looking for Patrick Chambers, 28, of Opelousas on a burglary charge.

Shakesneider was arrested Friday during a proactive patrol that deputies have been doing following some recent armed robberies in Evangeline Subdivision. Deputies saw a large crowd arguing with some people in a vehicle on Emerald Drive. They detained the driver, Shakesneider, but two other people ran away.

Deputies allegedly found a Draco, which they described as an AK-47 mini-style pistol, on the floorboard of the vehicle.

Deputies identified one of the men who ran away as Chambers, who has outstanding warrants for his arrest.

More charges may be pending in the case.

“These patrols are a direct response to the increase in assault type weapons being carried and used by individuals. I am thankful for the commitment of my deputies and for their service to the citizens of St. Landry Parish," Guidroz said.

If you know the whereabouts of Patrick Chambers you are urged to call St. Landry Crime Stoppers at 337-948-(TIPS) 8477. All calls are anonymous and you could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to his arrest.
