Deputies in St. Landry Parish are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Sunday night near Palmetto.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz confirmed that his office responded to a shooting on Carmons Road in the Palmetto area at around 11:00 pm on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
The shooting resulted in the death of a 28-year-old Ray Rideau, Jr. of Palmetto, family confirmed to KATC.
The victim's family also says the shooting happened near Rideau's home.
The sheriff's office says that detectives are currently working on the case and no further information was released.
