LAFAYETTE — June marks the 50th anniversary of LGBTQ+ pride traditions.

The purpose of Pride Month is to recognize the impact the LGBTQ+ community has had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.

In downtown Lafayette, the Y Lafayette sign in Parc Sans Souci has been painted rainbow, representing the pride flag.

The triangular A is inspired by the progress pride flag, which is inclusive of transgender people and people of color.

The artwork was done by the Lafayette chapter of PFLAG.

PFLAG is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, their families and allies.

The group is encouraging everyone to take pictures with the newly decorated sign.

If you're interested in helping the organization continue this project and seeing future community engagement projects, you can become a member or make a donation by visiting their website.
