20,000 meals were packaged today in Lafayette and will soon head out to local children in need.

The first No Child Hungry event took place today as volunteers showed up to package meals at the Home Furniture Distribution Center.

This event is part of Nationwide Marketing Group's No Child Hungry campaign.

The campaign raises awareness for children in need of food in the United States and abroad.

Packaging began at 8 a.m. and ended at noon. Lunch was provided for volunteers.

Karen Holston of Nationwide's marketing department, explained, "This is all part of Nationwide's Week of Giving. We turned it into a Month of Giving and this is our final event for November where we reached out in our other markets and into the community. It's going to be a great event."
