UL Lafayette Police have arrested one man for a purse snatching incident on campus in September.

According to Lieutenant Billy Abrams with ULPD, officers were dispatched to Burke Hawthorne Hall on September 17 in reference to a purse snatching. The victim told police that after walking into the building, she felt a tug on her backpack. When she turned, a white male was observed running out of the building with keys and a clutch wallet in his hand.

The suspect was identified as a tall white male with a skinny build wearing a red UL Lafayette orientation shirt. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

On October 10, UL police received a call at Dupre Library in reference to a suspicious white male. Officers responded and made contact with a suspect identified as Lane Trahan. Trahan was transported to the UL Police Department after determining he was involved in a previous incident on campus.

It was also determined that Trahan fit the description of the male suspect involved in the purse snatching that occurred in September.

On October 10, Trahan was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of Entry/Remaining After Being Forbidden from the incident at Dupre Library. After an investigation, a positive identification was made in reference to the purse snatching at Burke Hall and an arrest warrant was obtained for Trahan.

Trahan was arrested on October 17 by UL Police without incident for the purse snatching.

He is currently in LPCC and a bond has not been set.
