Southside High's first graduating class celebrates commencement

Posted at 8:34 PM, May 23, 2020

The first-ever graduating class from Southside High School in Youngsville celebrated commencement on Saturday.

Students participated in a parade starting at the Youngsville Sports Complex.

Earlier this week, Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter proclaimed the month of May "Southside High's Class of 2020 Month" at a city council meeting. Principal Catherine Cassidy and one of this year's outstanding graduates, Rhett Pelloquin, received that award on behalf of the school.

At Saturday's parade, students were able to decorate their vehicles as residents lined the route to give well wishes.
