One person was wounded early today when someone fired a gun inside The District nightclub.
Police were working security in the parking lot and heard the shots, but in the confusion created by panicked club-goers the suspect wasn't identified, a spokeswoman said.
The incident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. at the Johnston Street nightclub, the spokeswoman said.
The wounded person, a 26-year-old male security employee of the establishment, sustained a non-life-threatening injury, she said. As of 3 a.m. he was listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police are interviewing several employees of the club, but so far have not identified a shooter, the spokeswoman said.
If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
