Thursday is National Day of Prayer, and while many couldn't gather at their place of worship to pray, Scott city officials hosted a virtual celebration on their website.

Afterward, free lunches were given out at the city's event center.

"There's more capacity, obviously our event center holds so many people and some just don't have the means to just get here when we do have it live. However, this was a great opportunity for not just the people of Scott but the people of Lafayette Parish to get involved in our National Day of Prayer to pray for our community and our nation," explained Scott Mayor Jan-Scott Richard.
