Fire trucks, ambulances, and cruisers were all part of a surprise 'Thank You' parade for the medical staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Emergency Medical Center in Scott.
Scott Fire Chief Chad Sonnier explained that during the majority of incidents, fire, police, and medics treat patients at the scene and "lose sight of the fact that doctors and nurses go on to treat our patients for days or longer."
The recent pandemic has highlighted the job healthcare workers do to keep our communities safe, said Sonnier.
So, as a demonstration of gratitude, firefighters, police officers, and medics drove around the emergency care center on Thursday evening.
Mayor Jan-Scott Richard thanked the hospital staff and offered some words of encouragement.
"It's very important; I think a lot of times we forget police and fire, but we also forget our medical community, EMS, and so it's very important that we acknowledge them," explained Richard. "This is just a small token of appreciation for what they've been putting themselves through for the last five or six weeks."
