LAFAYETTE — Although UL played their first game last weekend, fans can be found tailgating all today on Saturday before the Cajuns play their first true home game.
Donald Foster has been tailgating with a group of friends for several years. He says they call themselves the retired guys.
"We're big time Ragin' Cajun fans, so I'm just hanging out with my Ragin' Cajun family," Foster said.
Many people posted outside of the Cajun field ave been doing it for years. For them tailgating has become a tradition.
"I probably started back in '75 when Roy Henry was a quarterback. We came through those years, we tailgated in an old Winnebago and that's just continued until now, UL alum Chris Starling said.
Others are just starting to create traditions. Tamela Lee first came from Lake Charles last year to watch her son play. She was quickly invited to tailgate with other football moms. Now with her son on his second year of school, she's happy to support her son with her new friends.
"We have a good time, this is our second year, it's all about a good time, family, unity, just football moms enjoying each others company, Lee said.
No matter the outcome for the game, these fans are here to support their team.
"Hey we gotta take the losses and be better for the wins," Lee added.
Next weekend the Cajuns will play at home again against Texas Southern.
