In December of 2018, Lafayette Parish voters decided to divide the city-parish council in two. The result is that only members of the city council will deal with city issues, allowing the parish council to focus on parish issues, according to The Advocate.
Recently, registered voters in Lafayette have been beginning to receive new voter registration cards that identify their new districts.
Charlene Meaux Menard said that voter registration cards are mailed out on Tuesdays.
