Lafayette Police and the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force have arrested a Breaux Bridge man in connection with a February shooting on S. St. Antoine St. in Lafayette.

27-year-old Cody L. Williams was arrested Wednesday on an active warrant in New Iberia, according to LPD spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas.

Williams was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on six counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm.

Police responded to the banquet hall on S. St. Antoine St. shortly before 1:30 a.m. on February 25 in reference to someone discharging a weapon. Officers located six victims suffering from gunshot injuries; no one had been shot, but a gun went off and several people were injured from fragments.

All were transported to a local hospital and later released.

Lafayette Police thanked the public for their assistance in identifying the person responsible for the incident.
