At tonight's meeting, Mayor-President Josh Guillory presented Thomas with a plaque, thanking him for his dedicated years of service to the citizens of Lafayette and the Lafayette Police Department.

Also at tonight's meeting, the City and Parish Councils approved an ordinance to use more than $800,000 in HUD funds for business recovery.

LEDA will administer the funds, which will be given to small businesses impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

HUD must still approve the plan before it can take effect.
