Lafayette Police responded to a major traffic crash overnight in the city that took the life of a Lafayette woman.
According to Spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, police responded at around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday morning to a major traffic crash in the 900 block of the NW Evangeline Thruway.
The driver of a Cadillac attempted to cross the Evangeline Thruway from Goldman St., but was struck by the driver of a Ford. The driver of the Cadillac, 45-year-old Nichole Thibeaux of Lafayette, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The driver of the Ford, along with one passenger in the Cadillac, were both transported to a local hospital where they remain in stable condition.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident. The accident remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Traffic Unit.
