Arrest made in Wednesday afternoon shooting on W. Pinhook Road

UPDATE: Lafayette Police say an arrest has been made in connection with this afternoon's shooting.

Police say 21-year-old Dempsey Jones, Jr of Carencro turned himself in to authorities at the Lafayette Police Department.

He was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The victim remains at a local hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY: Lafayette Police are investigating a shooting that took place around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say they responded to a disturbance outside at a local apartment complex in the 200 block of Merchants Boulevard. Prior to officers arriving, shots fired were reported in a nearby parking lot of a local business in the 2400 block of W. Pinhook Road involving the same party.

One victim was reported shot and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The 22-year-old male victim suffered a gunshot wound and is listed in critical condition. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation.

No arrests have been made at this time.
