The Lafayette Police Department could soon be getting a new K-9 officer.
At tonight's meeting, the Lafayette City-Parish Council approved an introductory ordinance to transfer nearly $16,000 from accounts within the department to pay for the new officer.
This follows the death of K-9 officer Ripo last week who died after battling lymphoma.
