Lafayette man booked on hate crimes for Lux Lounge vandalism

Lafayette Police have arrested one person responsible for spray painting the front glass of a local business.

According to Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, 23-year-old James Verrett of Lafayette was located by detectives at a local residence. He was arrested for two outstanding warrants issued for Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Hate Crimes.

Verrett was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for booking.

Lux Hookah Lounge on Johnston Street in Lafayette was vandalized on January 12.

The police report indicated that the suspect spray painted the security camera before vandalizing the business.
