On Friday, April 24th, the first ever Virtual Festival International de Louisiane will kick off and carry on through the weekend. Fans can tune in from their own homes to enjoy a curated show packed with performances from around the world, and from right in here in Lafayette.
The Festival International website has a daily showtime schedule for viewers to plan out their Virtual Festival experience. Many bands that were scheduled to perform at Festival International 2020 will share intimate performances, such as Ayrad, Natu Camara, and Sinkane. Blast from the past shows will also be in the mix with bands like Balkan Beat Box and Red Baraat. The Sunday closer includes a surprise collaboration that should not be missed.
Organizers have also provided directions for viewers to understand how to tune in. Marketing Director, Carly Viator, explained "Virtual Festival will be hosted by Facebook Live, but we want fans to know that they can also tune in without having a Facebook account."
Locally, viewers can tune in on AOC and online, simply go to www.facebook.com/festivalinternational. The program will begin each day with Acadiana Open Channel's Festival International Archive Collection. Then Virtual Festival takes over for the second half with their curated shows.
