The Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana hosted a fundraiser today.
The event was held at Rock N Bowl de Lafayette, and featured bowling, jambalaya and music from Country Roundup. There also was a silent auction and a raffle.
Funds raised will be used in Acadiana, said Molly Guidry, media coordiantor for the DSAA.
"It will help us do all the wonderful things we do for people with Down Syndrome here in the community," she said.
Guidry said the aim of the event is simple.
"We want to promote awareness and acceptance of all individuals with Down Syndrome," she said. "We want people to see what they can give back to the community, and everything they can accomplish. They bowl. They like to dance, they like to eat, they like to have a good time - just like everybody else."
