District 5 candidates for Lafayette City and Parish Council meet in public forum

Tonight, the candidates for District 5 of the Lafayette Parish and City Councils met at an election forum presented by Downtown Lafayette Unlimited and Downtown Development Authority.

The forum allowed citizens the chance to get to know the candidates who are hoping to represent Downtown and Upper Lafayette for the next four years.

The forum was held at Acadiana Center for the Arts on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

All candidates for each council district were present to answer questions about the role of Downtown in their district and how they will address Downtown's most pressing issues and needs should they be elected to office.

Candidates running for City Council include Aaron Staten, Glenn Lazard, Janet Jackson, and Lionel Rodriguez.

Candidates running for Parish Council seat include Abraham 'Ab' Rubin, Jr. And James Thomas.

Wedesday's forum was the first in a two-part series concluding with the Downtown Lafayette Mayor-President Forum on Tuesday, September 24.

The events are free to attend, but seating is limited.
