Every year, Vermilionville hosts three culture day celebrations - Creole, Acadian and Native American.

On Sunday, it was the Acadians' turn. This year's theme is Les Femmes du Folklore, exploring and celebrating women found in Acadian culture, historically and contemporarily, along with live music, food and cultural exchange all day.

There were films, painting and visual art exhibits, storytelling, French lessons, cotton spinning, danging, Traiteur traditions, boat tours, readings, canoeing, a parade and open hearth cooking. There were cooking demonstrations and a jam session, as well as performances from Jane Vidrine, Lisa Trahan, Friends & Family; Richard Guidry Foundation and Sheryl Comrier and the Cajunettes.

Cormier was the recipient of this year's Acadian Culture Preservation Award.
