Downtown Jennings has the charm of a small town with some surprises that you'd only expect to see in a bigger city. Business owners say it's something you have to get out and walk around to experience.

"It's worth the experience. Coming downtown, parking alongside the road, visiting all the shops, getting to see people you maybe didn't realize you knew already. It's really a great experience. Shopping local is great," says Lacey Guinn, co-owner of Rosebud's, a gift shop on Main Street. Her store is among buildings centuries old, where despite modernization, the close knit community feeling remains.

"Hospitality is huge for us, we love getting to know our customers and our employees all know them well. There's definitely that sense of community, " says Guinn.

When you meet each business owner it's easy to see how loved this town really is.

"I can remember as a child coming to the parades or whatever was going on and always wanting a shop down main street," says Nova Barnes, another shop owner on Main Street. She says her vintage store, The Steamer Trunk, is "a dream come true."

She says this dream just keeps getting better as downtown Jennings sees updates and improvements.

Mayor Henry Guinn says he's also doing his part to keep Main Street beautiful, aiming to keep business in town.

"We have a lot of locals who want to see Main Street a better place and as mayor I'm going to strive to do things to keep business here and to keep them happy," says Guinn.
