Members of the community walked the streets of New Iberia today in an effort to spread the word about gun violence and how it's affecting the community.

Two local pastors, Pastor Allen Randle of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Zachary Mitchell of Word of Hope Outreach) were leading the rally, which started at 11 a.m.

The route led marchers from John Hopkins Elementary School; it ended at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church.

Organizers called all parents, children, and community members to support the effort.

Also in the group were mothers and families of recent victims of gun violence in New Iberia. They shared with people how the tragic murders of their children affects not only their families, but the community as well. They pray that their testimony can make a difference.
