New Iberia City Marshal candidate Mike “Bomba” Lopez was arrested Friday night on a charge of driving under the influence, the Daily Iberian reports.
Lopez qualified to run for the seat on Wednesday. He faces Brett Lang, Tony Migues and Greg Pete in the October election.
“Mr. Lopez was arrested for DUI and bonded from NIPD,” the spokesman told the newspaper.
No other information was available from the department on Saturday, the Iberian reports.
Lopez told KATC that he's innocent and will prove that when he gets his day in court.
