A New Iberia teacher celebrated a special milestone on Friday - retirement!
Teachers and staff at Pesson Elementary surprised Karen Musso with a retirement parade through Loreauville. The Loreauville Fire Department and Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office also participated in the parade. Musso smiled and waved as her school family honored her commitment to the Iberia Parish School District and students.
Musso has spent 30 years as an educator, having taught for one year at Jeanerette Elementary School and 29 at Pesson Elementary. She stated that throughout her years as an educator, she loved teaching young minds and seeing their progress through kindergarten and then seeing the same students throughout their later years at Pesson.
And now - what's next? She says she looks forward to "relaxing and rejuvenating," and maybe one day moving to Texas to be closer to family.
