A 20-year-old Eunice man was killed Sunday night in a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 13 in Evangeline Parish. The vehicle's driver has been arrested.

Troopers say the crash occurred shortly before 8:00 pm on October 13 near Percey McGee Road.

The crash took the life of 20-year-old Keldon Lomas of Eunice.

An investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as a 2008 Infinity M35 was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 13.

According to troopers, the driver, identified as 37-year-old Richard Lomas, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway. The vehicle then overturned several times.

Keldon Lomas, who was a passenger and unrestrained at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The driver, Richard Lomas, was also unrestrained and suffered minor injuries.

Troopers say that impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and results are pending.

Richard Lomas was arrested following treatment at a local hospital and was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on charges of Vehicular Homicide, Careless Operation, No Seat Belt, Driving Under Suspension, and Open Container.

The crash remains under investigation.
