The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office reopened lobbies at their Capitol Road main office on Tuesday.

A mask or face covering must be worn to enter the building and social distancing will be enforced.

Sheriff K.P. Gibson said reopening the office was an important step for the community.

"We need to be open for our citizens. We're here to serve our citizens, and it's their sheriff's office. Our goal has always been to open as early as we could, but to make sure that we had the requirements to protect our citizens, but also protect our employees at the same time," explained Gibson.

Lobbies at several government buildings were closed to the public following Gov. Edwards' stay at home order.
