The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public to be aware of counterfeit money possibly being passed in the parish.
According to a release, deputies have been contacted by various businesses regarding the money, and the majority of complaints are from small business owners.
A large amount of the counterfeit money is believed to be in the Crowley area.
Deputies encourage all businesses to check bills by use of counterfeit detectors as well as checking watermarks within the bills.
Business owners are urged to be aware and to not accept bills if you suspect it to be counterfeit. Then contact local law enforcement immediately.
