The Acadia Parish Police Jury held a public hearing today in regards to the parish's 2020 budget.

The hearing allowed residents of Acadia Parish to come before jurors to express their opinions about the budget.

Jurors met in a special meeting on November 19 to tweak the proposed budget, according to the Crowley Post-Signal.

The proposed budget will cut funding to the DA, Clerk of Court, and Sheriff's Offices by five percent and cut funding to Emergency Management by 5.4 percent, among other cuts.

If the jury does not adopt a budget by December 31, the parish will be forced to operate on half of the current budget until a new one is passed.
