CROWLEY — The Acadia Parish Junior Livestock Show and Sale is underway at the Rice Arena in Crowley.
The event will feature more than 100 4-H and FFA exhibitors and nearly 300 animals.
Elliot Dore is among the exhibitors getting ready to show off his lamb at the show.
"We have to walk him and place him square," explained Elliot. "Once you place him square, the judge comes and feels him."
For Elliot, walking "Blue" is no easy feat. Half the battle in the show ring is fought by the showman.
"You just get in front of it, and you want to put your leg right here to where they can't move so far and to get their feet even," said Elliot.
Addison Zaumbrecher now gets to enjoy the rest of the event after showing her steer Thursday.
"Well, in showmanship, I didn't do that great with my cow," explained Addison. "I got sixth place, but in my class, I got first."
That's not deterring her from participating in the next competition.
"You get some money, and I just like animals," said Addison.
The event will end Saturday with the live auction and sale.
