The forecast remains on cruise control for another day with the late summer pattern keeping a vice grip hold over Acadiana.

Tuesday morning will be fairly quiet outside a few coastal showers, warm and muggy conditions lasting across the area.

Those early showers will then start to spread out and we'll have another afternoon with widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms.

Clouds and showers will keep temperatures around 90 degrees which is where we've sat, more or less, for the last several days. Heat index will be in the triple digits.

There's a surge of moisture coming up out of the Gulf of Mexico this weekend which will bring soaking widespread showers across Acadiana.

The worst of the rainfall looks to be on Saturday with coastal regions catching the majority of the wet weather.

This could lead to some flooding along the coast so the forecast should be monitored for the next several days.
