BREAUX BRIDGE, LA — The Zydeco community gathered Sunday afternoon at Buck and Johnny's in Breaux Bridge for Zydeco To The Rescue, a fundraiser to help Major and Frances Handy.
The famed Zydeco musician and his wife lost their home back in August to a house fire.
All of Handy's instruments were destroyed along with most of their belongings. The couple says the outreach has been amazing.
"We've had so much good turn out with friends pouring out their love to us, we would do the same for anybody," says Handy. "We've had an abundance in money, all my instruments came back, I'm very very grateful."
At least five different Zydeco bands donated their time for the event which cost $15 at the door. All proceeds will be given to Handy and his wife to continue rebuilding.
If you would like to donate, a GoFundMe account has been set up. You can find it by clicking HERE .
