BROUSSARD, LA — With threat of freezing temperatures on the way, the staff at Zoosiana is ensuring that all of the animals have someplace warm to retreat to.
"All of the animals obviously have an indoor space where there is a heat source," says Giraffe Keeper Erin Fenstermaker. "Our smaller primates like the marmosets, all of those, if it does get below freezing we usually bring those completely indoors," she adds.
Apparently the exotic animals from around the world dislike South Louisiana's extreme heat and humidity as much as some Acadiana residents do.
Fenstermaker explains, "Usually the first couple of cool spells we have the animals, including the giraffes, are more active."
Zoosiana operates year round, so no matter how cold it gets, you're still likely to see your furry favorites.
