Since most Mardi Gras parades are canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a few Youngsville residents decided to celebrate their own way.
Brandi Landry, along with some of her neighbors, helped organize a "homemade" parade on Saturday.
Trailers, golf carts, bikes, and pedestrians participated in the parade, which wound through Sugar Ridge subdivision.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed the celebration, which organizers called a special event for the neighborhood.
"Means a lot to us, especially in our neighborhood," explained Carey Leblanc. "It's growing, there is a lot of people outside of the area so even for those outsiders to see our culture, it means a lot. Even if there is two floats we will be happy."
