Women in Acadiana who have improved the lives of others are being recognized.
The Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women awarded the winners across three categories. They honored leaders in businesses, nonprofit and public service.
"Women of Excellence is the celebration of phenomenal women in our community. This is our twenty-fifth year of celebrating phenomenal women in our community and we're just really excited to be able to honor them," said Christy Lenahan, President of the Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women.
This is the 25th year of the celebration which honors local women making a difference. Lenahan says that seeing those honored today makes her hopeful for change, seeing women who are advocates for other women.
The Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women has been serving the local community for 33 years.
