Louisiana-based food delivery company Waitr has waived delivery fees to help those in the Lafayette area recovering from Hurricane Laura.
The company says that the free delivery is to help those who can't get to local restaurants or don't want to go out and bring business back to local eateries that have reopened.
Those using the app through September 12 can have their food delivered for free by using the code "STANDTOGETHER" at checkout.
Waitr recently offered free same-day grocery delivery to those unable to get to their local groccery stores. Customers can used the code "GROCERY" for that free delivery, the company says.
No contact delivery options will continue to be made available for customers to allow for social distancing. All drivers wear masks, gloves and use sanitizing spray.
