LAFAYETTE, La. - Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that happened in a parking lot of an apartment complex.

Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a call where the driver of a vehicle had been shot in the 1500 block of Louisiana Avenue Sunday night, according to Sgt. Wayne Griffin, spokesperson for the LPD.

The victim was driving when the suspect shot several times from another vehicle. The driver was struck once in the wrist, and crashed into a dumpster in the parking lot, Griffin stated. The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury by medical personnel, and transported to a local hospital.

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.
