Vermilionville hosted an old-fashioned Cochon de Lait today.
The cultural center on the Bayou Vermilion offered information and cooking demonstrations, as well as tastings for visitors. There was a panel discussion "Forgotten Foods from the Cow," which was presented by Bacque Farms.
The cooking demonstrations featured Edmond Alexander (cracklings), John Norbert (pork jambalaya), and Johnson Boutonniere (boudin).
The event featured music from Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners.
"This is kinda the tradition that we want to keep pushing forward for the young kids that was passed down to me and we want to pass it down to our kids for generations to come where we can keep our culture and heritage altogether," said Coby Bailey, a local chef.
