LAFAYETTE, La. - A vehicle crashed into a Lafayette Sonic last night.

The incident happened at 2:50 am on Saturday at the Ambassador Caffery location, according to Sgt. Wayne Griffin, spokesperson for Lafayette Police Department.

Police say two vehicles were traveling southbound on Ambassador Caffery, south of Cameron Street, when one of the vehicles went into the other lane sideswiping the other vehicle. One vehicle struck a pole near McDonald's and the second vehicle crashed into Sonic. No one was injured and one of the drivers was ticketed.

The building is now boarded up and the restaurant is closed. Photos show a damaged drive-in menu stand and a large portion of the storefront boarded up.

Their Facebook page says they are closed for repairs.
