As it’s been since just before Hurricane Laura struck six weeks ago, the Doubletree By Hilton in Lafayette has served as, among other things, a staging area for utility companies.
The vehicles, with lift trucks and buckets, will be utilized immediately after Hurricane Delta passes to assist in restoring power throughout southwest Louisiana.
Doubletree By Hilton General Manager Jimmy Thackston says Entergy personnel working in Cameron Parish have stayed at his hotel for six straight weeks since there hasn’t been much lodging space available in the Lake Charles area.
Along with utility crews, Thackston says other storm recovery entities like relief organizations, both immediate and long-term have been using the Doubletree to house Laura workers.
Thackston expects the same to happen with Delta.
