Update: Victim of car shooting in stable condition, one arrested

The Lafayette Police Department says that the person shot inside a car on Camellia Boulevard Saturday, July 13 is in stable condition.

Police say that the victim was driving the vehicle when a rear passenger accidentally discharged a firearm.

Several other passengers were inside the car at the time of the incident.

The passenger who discharged the firearm, identified as 29-year-old Grant Marshall, was arrested on a charge of negligent injury.

Marshall was detained at a gas station on Bertrand Drive following the incident and was questioned.
