Lafayette Police have booked two people in connection with a shots fired incident yesterday on the Thruway.

Marcus Williamson, 29, of Carencro, and his passenger, Debreana Green, 20, of St. Martinville, were both booked with attempted first-degree murder, records show.

They were detained yesterday after allegedly fleeing a shooting scene in Lafayette, and leading police on a chase through St. Landry Parish to Grand Coteau.

Yesterday, police told us no one was injured in the afternoon shooting.

Lafayette police were in the 2200 block of NW Evangeline Thruway when they heard shots fired. They found a Nissan SUV fleeing the area, and tried to stop it. They pursued the SUV into St. Landry Parish, and were able to stop it near Grand Coteau. They took the driver, a man, and the passenger, a woman, back to Lafayette for questioning.

The Lafayette Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the shooting. There are no reported injuries at this time. Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
