UPDATE: Parish officials have updated the name of the man who died after slipping on ice.
The man's name is Carl James Mathieu. He was 50 years old and died after he hit his head in a fall on the ice. The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has classified Mathieu's death as the first related to the ice storm.
Mathieu died after a fall at his home, officials with the Coroner's Office say.

Family and friends are now remembering Mathieu.
"For those that don't really know him, that maybe don't know him or just saw him in a resturant or at a gas station. He always did something for us to make sure that we were okay. His name and is legacy is going to live on," explained Rudy Alfred, a family friend.
