As we reported last week, Cinema on the Bayou will be virtual this year, but the show will go on.

And all proceeds from ticket sales will go to another organization that has been hard hit by the pandemic.

Cinema on the Bayou organizers say they are donating proceeds from their “Louisiana Day” series of films to the “Save Cité des Arts” fundraising campaign. Cité des Arts has set a goal of raising $40,000.00 to continue the work post COVID-19 of teaching and entertaining local audiences.

Cité de Arts has been a host site and sponsor for Cinema on the Bayou since its inception. As such, Pat Mire and Rebecca Hudsmith, the co-founders and organizers of the festival, have decided to contribute to help keep the venue open.

“Every year, during the Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival, we celebrate "Louisiana Day" at Cité des Arts in Downtown Lafayette, during which time we screen Louisiana based and related films with the filmmakers who make them, eat Alan Broussard's catfish court-bouilion, have drinks at Cliff's Bar and dance to the Cajun music of Les Babalous. Since this year's Festival is virtual, we will celebrate "Louisiana Day" virtually. The proceeds of all ticket sales to view the Louisiana Day Film Programs will go to support Cité des Arts, a vital non-profit, community-based theatre and arts venue.”

You can access the online festival where the three Louisiana programs are listed by going to: https://watch.eventive.org/cinemaonthebayou2021 [watch.eventive.org]. The films will be accessible 24 hours a day until the end of the festival on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

You can also donate to “Save Cité des Arts” by going to www.citedesarts.org/sponsors [citedesarts.org] and clicking on the blue “Donate Now” button, or through GoFundMe. This is your opportunity to support Louisiana film makers, a homegrown and internationally recognized film festival and support the local culture.
