The University Avenue underpass is impassable on as rain from Hurricane Laura accumulates on roadways in Downtown Lafayette.
Water had already started to flood several streets in the downtown area and police have blocked off the underpass.
Street lights and stop lights in downtown Lafayette are out creating some dangerous driving conditions.
The city remains under a curfew until 6:00 am. Residents should remain in their homes as the storm continues to pass through the area.
