United Way of Acadiana launches "Bank On Acadiana" initiative

On Tuesday, February 2, the United Way of Acadiana launched their "Bank On Acadiana" initiative.

The program is aimed at helping individuals and families establish and maintain financial security.

United Way has partnered with local banks, credit unions and other financial institutions to launch the program.

President and CEO of United Way of Acadiana Carlee Alm-Labar introduced the launch with five of the program's sponsors.

The tax refund and tax tips programs will be the first of the "Bank On Acadiana" initiative to be launched in February.

Through the Bank On program members of the Acadiana community will have access to the following services:

  • Affordable low-to-no cost checking accounts even with past negative checking history
  • Resources to credit counseling
  • Pathways to homeownership
  • Money management skills and more
